| It's official! Included in the Economic Stimulus package signed by President Obama on February 17 is a 30 percent tax credit (up to $1,500) for the purchase in 2009 and 2010 of a 75 percent efficient biomass-burning appliance as measured using a lower heating value.
The new tax credit takes effect immediately. Final guidelines for qualifying stoves were passed June 4, 2009. The credit applies to all qualifying stoves sold in 2009.
